Understanding Paramount Plus and Amazon Billing
Paramount Plus is a streaming service that offers movies, TV shows, and original content. You can subscribe to Paramount Plus in several ways. One common method is through Amazon Prime Video Channels, which allows you to add Paramount Plus to your existing Amazon Prime account. When you use this method, Amazon handles the billing for your Paramount Plus subscription, and the charge appears on your Amazon account rather than directly from Paramount.

The pricing for Paramount Plus through Amazon typically ranges from $5.99 to $11.99 per month, depending on whether you choose the ad-supported or ad-free version. This differs from subscribing directly to Paramount Plus, where you would pay the same rates but receive the bill directly from Paramount instead of Amazon. Understanding which method you used to sign up matters significantly when it comes time to cancel, because the cancellation process differs based on your subscription source.
Many people choose to subscribe through Amazon because it keeps all their streaming subscriptions in one place and simplifies their billing. Amazon consolidates charges, so instead of tracking multiple subscription companies, your Paramount Plus bill appears alongside any other Prime Video Channels you may have added. This can make budgeting easier, though it also means you need to monitor your Amazon bills to catch when charges occur each month.
Before you begin the cancellation process, check your Amazon account to confirm that you subscribed to Paramount Plus through Amazon Prime Video Channels rather than directly through Paramount. Log into your Amazon account and navigate to your subscriptions section. If Paramount Plus appears there with an Amazon billing date, you have a channel subscription through Amazon. This distinction is important because if you subscribed directly through Paramount's website, you would cancel through Paramount's website instead.
Practical takeaway: Review your Amazon account now to identify which subscription method you used. Look for Paramount Plus in your active subscriptions and note the billing date and amount charged. This information will help you confirm you're canceling through the correct platform.
Step-by-Step Process for Canceling on Amazon's Website
The cancellation process through Amazon's website is relatively straightforward and can be completed in a few minutes. Start by opening your web browser and logging into your Amazon account using your email address and password. Navigate to the "Your Account" section, which you can typically find by clicking on the account icon or menu in the upper right corner of the Amazon website. Look for a section labeled "Memberships and Subscriptions" or similar wording—this may also appear as "Subscribe & Save" or simply "Subscriptions."

Once you're in the Subscriptions section, you should see a list of all your active subscriptions, including any Prime Video Channels you've added. Locate Paramount Plus in this list. Next to it, you'll typically see options such as "Manage" or "Actions." Click on this option to open the subscription details page. On this page, you'll see information about your subscription, including the current billing date, the amount charged, and your subscription tier (ad-supported or ad-free).
Look for a button or link that says "Cancel Channel" or "Cancel Subscription." Click on this option. Amazon may ask you to confirm your cancellation and might offer you options such as pausing the subscription temporarily rather than canceling it outright. If you want to fully cancel, select the option to cancel rather than pause. Amazon typically allows cancellation to take effect at the end of your current billing cycle, meaning you can usually continue watching until your next billing date arrives.
After you click the cancellation button, Amazon will display a confirmation message. Read this carefully to understand when your cancellation takes effect. Most subscriptions cancel at the end of the current billing period, which means you retain access through that date. Make a note of your cancellation confirmation number or date if Amazon provides one. Check your email for a confirmation message from Amazon—this serves as your official record that the cancellation was processed.
Practical takeaway: Write down your current billing date before you start the cancellation process. This helps you verify the cancellation took effect correctly on your next statement. If you don't see the cancellation reflected after your billing date passes, contact Amazon customer service with your confirmation details.
Canceling Through the Amazon Mobile App
If you prefer to manage your subscriptions using the Amazon mobile app rather than a web browser, the process follows a similar path with slightly different navigation. Open the Amazon shopping app on your phone or tablet and log in if necessary. Tap the menu icon (usually three horizontal lines) in the lower right corner or upper left corner depending on your device. Look for "Your Account," "Account Settings," or similar options. This menu varies slightly between iOS and Android devices, but the general layout remains similar.

Once in your account section, search for "Subscriptions," "Prime Video Channels," or "Memberships." The exact naming varies depending on your app version. Tap on this option to view all active subscriptions tied to your Amazon account. Scroll through the list to find Paramount Plus. When you locate it, tap on the subscription to open its details page. You should see your billing information and subscription status displayed on this screen.
On the Paramount Plus subscription details page, look for a button labeled "Cancel Channel," "Cancel Subscription," or "Manage Subscription." Tap this button to proceed. The app will likely show you a confirmation screen asking you to verify that you want to cancel. Review the information about your cancellation effective date—typically the end of your current billing cycle. Confirm the cancellation by tapping the appropriate button or option. The app should then display a confirmation message indicating your subscription has been canceled.
Mobile app cancellations process through the same systems as website cancellations, so the results are identical. You'll receive the same confirmation via email, and your access continues through your current billing period. Some users find the mobile app interface faster for this task since they likely have their phone readily available. However, if you experience any issues with the app, the website method works equally well as a backup option.
Practical takeaway: Keep your phone or tablet updated to the latest version of the Amazon app before attempting cancellation. App updates often improve the stability of subscription management features, reducing the chance of technical glitches during the process.
What Happens After You Cancel
Understanding the timeline after cancellation helps you plan your viewing. When you cancel your Paramount Plus subscription through Amazon, the cancellation typically takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle. For example, if your billing date is on the 15th of each month and you cancel on the 5th, you can usually continue watching Paramount Plus until the 15th. After that date passes without a charge, your access ends. Amazon confirms the cancellation in writing via email, so you'll have documentation of when your access expires.

During your remaining access period, you can continue watching any content you've started or plan to watch. All your watchlists, viewing history, and saved shows remain in your account during this time. Once your access ends on the cancellation effective date, you lose the ability to stream new content. Any downloads you made through the Paramount Plus app may also stop working, depending on the app's policies for offline viewing. Your account information itself doesn't disappear—if you decide to resubscribe in the future, you may be able to restore your preferences and history.
After the cancellation takes effect, Paramount Plus will stop appearing in your Amazon subscriptions list. You won't receive any additional charges from Amazon for this subscription. However, if you had any other Prime Video Channels active, those remain unaffected by the Paramount Plus cancellation. Your Amazon Prime membership itself also continues unchanged—canceling a single channel doesn't impact your overall Prime benefits like free shipping or access to included Prime Video content.
If you notice that Amazon continues charging you for Paramount Plus after your cancellation date has passed, contact Amazon customer service immediately. Billing errors occasionally occur, and Amazon typically refunds erroneous charges when brought to their attention. Provide Amazon with your cancellation confirmation details and the dates of any charges that occurred after your cancellation should have taken effect. Keep records of all communications with Amazon regarding this issue.
Practical takeaway: Mark your cancellation effective date on your calendar and monitor your Amazon bill on that date to confirm the charge stopped. If you see a charge after that date, contact Amazon within 30 days for the best chance of receiving a refund.
