What Take 5 Car Wash Memberships Are
Take 5 Car Wash operates as a quick-service car washing chain with locations across multiple states in the United States. The company offers membership programs that allow customers to pay a monthly fee for regular car washing services. Understanding how these memberships work helps you determine whether this type of service arrangement matches your car maintenance needs and budget.

Take 5 Car Wash memberships function as subscription-based plans where you pay a set monthly price and receive a certain number of car washes or unlimited washes depending on your membership tier. The company has operated for several years and maintains locations primarily in the eastern and midwestern regions of the country. As of recent information, Take 5 Car Wash operates franchised locations, which means individual owners run specific locations under the Take 5 brand.
The membership model differs from paying per wash. Instead of paying $8 to $15 each time you visit, members prepay monthly and visit as frequently as their membership allows. This approach appeals to people who wash their cars regularly—whether weekly or multiple times per week—because the monthly cost often becomes lower than paying per visit when calculated over several months.
Take 5 locations typically feature tunnel-style automated washing systems where your car moves through different stations that apply soap, water, and drying processes. Many locations also include additional services like spot-free rinse options, undercarriage washing, and tire shine applications included in higher-tier memberships.
Practical Takeaway: Before considering a membership, visit a Take 5 location near you to understand the washing quality, available membership tiers, and pricing specific to that location. Membership costs and options can vary between different Take 5 locations operated by different franchise owners.
Types of Membership Tiers and Pricing Structures
Take 5 Car Wash typically offers multiple membership levels, though the specific names, features, and prices vary by location. Most locations provide at least three membership options ranging from basic to premium levels. Understanding the differences between these tiers helps you select the membership that matches your washing frequency and vehicle care priorities.

A basic or entry-level membership usually costs between $15 and $25 per month and includes one standard car wash per day. This tier typically covers the essential washing process with basic soap and rinse options. This membership works well for people who wash their car weekly or less frequently and want to reduce the per-wash cost compared to paying individually.
Mid-tier memberships generally cost between $25 and $35 monthly and offer unlimited washes or a higher number of daily washes. Mid-tier plans often add services such as spot-free rinse, which helps prevent water spots on your vehicle's exterior. Some locations include undercarriage washing at this level, which targets dirt and salt buildup underneath your vehicle—particularly useful in winter months when roads are salted or in dusty environments.
Premium memberships usually cost $35 to $50 or more per month and include the maximum package of services. These plans typically feature unlimited washes, spot-free rinse, undercarriage washing, and tire shine treatment. Premium members often receive added perks such as extended hours access, loyalty rewards, or priority service during busy times. Some premium memberships include additional monthly credits or services.
Most Take 5 locations operate digital membership management systems where you can check your membership status, view your wash history, and manage your account through a mobile app or website. Some locations use a card-based system where you tap a membership card at the entrance, while others have transitioned to app-based entry systems.
Practical Takeaway: Calculate your expected annual car wash costs by multiplying your typical monthly washes by the per-wash price at your local location. Compare this to the membership costs to determine whether a membership offers savings for your specific washing habits. Record your typical washing frequency for one month before committing to a membership level.
How to Enroll in a Take 5 Car Wash Membership
Enrolling in a Take 5 Car Wash membership involves visiting a participating location and completing a registration process. The process itself is relatively straightforward and typically takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Most locations handle membership enrollments at their payment stations or through digital kiosks.

To enroll, you'll need to provide basic information such as your name, phone number, email address, and vehicle information. Many locations ask for your vehicle's license plate number so they can track which car is using the membership during automated entry systems. You'll also need to provide a valid payment method—typically a credit card or debit card—for the recurring monthly charge.
At enrollment, you select which membership tier meets your needs. Staff members at the location can explain the differences between tiers and answer questions about what's included in each plan. Take time to understand the cancellation policy, billing date, and any promotional offers available. Some locations offer discounted first months or waived enrollment fees during promotional periods, though these offers vary by location and timing.
Many locations now offer online or app-based enrollment options. You can visit the Take 5 website or download the Take 5 mobile app to view locations near you, check their current membership pricing, and sometimes complete the enrollment process before visiting. This can save time on your first visit. The app typically allows you to start your membership and receive digital payment and login information.
Payment processing happens automatically on a monthly basis. Most memberships renew on the same day each month. You'll receive confirmation emails or notifications through the mobile app showing your membership renewal and updated balance. If you change your payment method or need to update your account information, you can typically make these changes through the app or by contacting your local Take 5 location.
Practical Takeaway: Before enrolling, read the membership agreement carefully, particularly the cancellation terms and billing cycle information. Verify the enrollment date so you know when your monthly charges will occur. Save your membership confirmation details and app login information in a secure location.
Membership Features and What's Included
Take 5 Car Wash memberships include the primary benefit of discounted or unlimited car washes, but different tiers provide varying additional features and services. Understanding exactly what your membership includes helps you maximize the value and know what to expect during each visit.

All membership tiers include access to the basic car wash process, which typically involves a multi-stage automated tunnel system. The wash includes pre-soak application to loosen dirt, high-pressure water jets, soap application, another rinse cycle, and air drying systems. The basic wash process handles general dirt, road grime, and light debris from normal driving conditions.
Higher-tier memberships add spot-free rinse technology, which uses demineralized or filtered water in the final rinse stage. This prevents mineral deposits and water spots that can remain on your vehicle when regular tap water dries. Spot-free rinse becomes particularly valuable if you live in areas with hard water or if you don't dry your vehicle by hand after washing.
Undercarriage washing is another common add-on feature included in mid and premium tiers. This service sprays water underneath your vehicle to remove accumulated dirt, salt, and road debris. This is particularly important in winter climates where road salt causes corrosion to the undercarriage and suspension components. Undercarriage washing can extend the life of your vehicle's undercarriage and reduce rust development.
Tire shine application is frequently included in premium memberships. This service applies a protectant product to your vehicle's tires, giving them a darker, more polished appearance. Beyond cosmetic benefits, tire shine products can help protect rubber from UV damage and weathering, potentially extending tire life.
Additional features that some premium memberships include are wax coatings (applied monthly or periodically), which provide extra protection to your vehicle's paint, and fragrance options where you select an interior scent. Some locations offer monthly loyalty points or bonus washes as part of premium memberships. A few locations provide early-bird or after-hours express wash options exclusively for premium members.
Membership also typically includes access to the membership holder's account through a mobile app or online portal. This access lets you view your wash history, upcoming renewal date, membership type, and account balance if your membership includes a limited number of washes.
Practical Takeaway: Create a checklist of features that matter most for your vehicle and local climate. If you live where road salt is used, undercarriage washing adds real value. If you don't hand-dry your car
